Stealth start-up Metamorphic Therapeutics moving to Genesis building, Marrow Therapeutics moving into 100 Forge

Watertown’s 2026 biotech rebound continues apace with two companies pulling permits to move into lab space over the last two weeks.

Metamorphic Therapeutics filed a permit with the City for a lab at the Genesis building (250 Arsenal Place). The company is in stealth and there is not much public information available about their work, but personnel attached to the permit have appear to have experience in the oncology space, so we speculate it may be a new oncology focused company. This is welcome news for the Genesis building, since it lost half its tenants last year when Transition Bio closed their US lab and Day Zero Diagnostics was acquired by BioMerieux and their lab was absorbed into the parent company. Metamorphic will join fellow tenants Souffle Therapeutics, which launched from stealth last year with $200 million in funding, and Seismic Therapeutic, a clinical stage firm developing antibody therapeutics, who's lead program S-4321 is currently in Phase 1 trials for cell-mediated immune diseases.

Marrow Therapeutics also recently filed a permit with the City to open up a lab at 100 Forge at Arsenal Yards. The company currently operates out of the BioLab shared space on Coolidge Ave. Marrow is focusing on developing antibody based therapeutics to treat blood diseases such as sickle cell disease and beta thalassemia. Marrow will join fellow Arsenal Yards tenant Orna Therapeutics in this space, as Orna signed a deal last year with Vertex Pharmaceuticals to develop gene therapeis for both sickle cell disease and beta thalassemia. Recently departed Stratus Therapeutics (Arsenal on the Charles) was also working a therapy for beta thalassemia. 100 Forge has also seen a turnaround this year, wtih Marrow Therapeutics joining Triveni Bio, offsetting the losses of Abata Therapeutics and Affini-t therapeutics last fall.

23 Elm Street offers 66,634 SF of cutting -edge, fully furnished spec lab space, engineered to support scientific innovations and empower research with best-in-class facilities.
